Hopefully one day we’ll find the Centre of Hope in Havana.  And that is not Havana, Cuba!!!!

We are forging ahead with our dreams and plans to provide a healthy environment where our children can learn and grow.

The centre where we currently operate is not ours and we’ve been asked to move out at some unspecified date in the future.  So, we’ve been making plans.  We found the ideal location for a new centre in the heart of Havana, an informal settlement on the outskirts of Katutura.  The location is closest to where the majority of our kids live.

We applied for the land back in August 2009 and are still waiting on the City of Windhoek to approve our application and sell the land to us.  We will begin lobbying now in a more persistent manner since this is all becoming more urgent.

A huge thank you to Laurelton Reign Diamonds, a local diamond manufacturing firm and a subsidiary of Tiffany & Co..  They donated money so we can buy the land for our needs and pursue sponsorship.  With their support we have prepared the drawings for our new centre.

Namibian Architect, Winfried Holze

A big thank you also to Namibian architect, Winfried Holze.  Winfried did a great job in developing the centre’s concept.  He accommodated all of our needs while ensuring we have room to expand and at the same time keeping our costs down by using practical materials and equipment that we can repair and maintain ourselves over time.  We can also capture rain water to cut down on our water bills.  Winfried reduced his fee to prepare the initial drawings and renderings of our new centre and he’s  prepared the detailed drawings without charge at this point so we can get quotes on the materials to build the centre.
